Print
KUALA LUMPUR, 27 September 2011 - Touch ‘n Go now is accepted as a mode of electronic fare payment at KLIA Ekspres, and it was made official with the signing ceremony between Touch ‘n Go Sdn. Bhd. (TNGSB) and Express Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (ERL)
Passengers boarding the express rail service heading to KLIA can now experience a faster and more convenient way to pay for their fare, as it is made easier with the cashless payment service. They can now say goodbye to the queue at the ticketing counter and simply use their Touch 'n Go card at the gates.
Touch ‘n Go - enabled fare payment for ERL kicked off on 8 August 2011 and for the time being, the service is currently available only for the Express Line; to and fro Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Passengers for ERL Transit Line will be able to use Touch ‘n Go at all stations once the implementation of the project is completed in mid December 2011.
The service was made official with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding which took place in KL Sentral station today. The MoU was signed by TNGSB Chief Executive Officer, Encik Abdul Karim Md Lassim and ERL Chief Executive Officer, Puan Noormah Mohd. Noor. The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid Albar, the Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
“We are glad that the collaboration between Touch ‘n Go and ERL has finally comes to a point of realization, and hoping this mutual partnership will benefit both of our customers with convenience. Boarding the ERL would become an easy breezy experience for passengers, where there are no queue or spare cash that they need to worry about. The overall experience for passengers of ERL will be improved, with the faster and more convenient alternative”, said Abdul Karim Md Lassim, CEO of TNGSB.

“Touch ‘n Go as the smart ticketing option would also be a contribution towards improvisation of public transport, which is one of the government’s agenda in the National Key Result Area (NKRA),” he added.

Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERLSB, said, “Touch ‘n Go provides yet another payment option to our passengers taking our train services. It reduces the dependency on cash and offers the convenience of quick and secure boarding. As there is no need for separate tickets, this also becomes an environmentally friendly initiative that further supports our Go Green, Go Lo-Co2 cause.”
