Kuala Lumpur, 1 April 2009: Beginning today, Express Rail Link (ERL) and KL Monorail will be jointly deploying staff to promote the sale of KLIA Transit Formula One Transfer Package in various venues to facilitate the purchase of transfer package for F1 spectators.
This joint initiative marked the inaugural effort of the two rail operators, with services connecting the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the heart of Kuala Lumpur city center, promoting the country’s biggest tourism event for national interest.
KL Monorail will make available these transfer packages in the following stations:
- Bukit Nanas
- Imbi
- Raja Chulan
- Medan Tuanku
- Maharajalela
- Bukit Bintang*
- KL Sentral*
* F1 race tickets are available at these two stations, which will be manned by ERL staff.
ERL will sell these transfer packages in their stations:
- KL Sentral
- Bandar Tasik Selatan
- Putrajaya/Cyberjaya
- KLIA
Dr Aminuddin Adnan, CEO ERL, said, “Getting fans to the circuit the fastest way is what ERL knows best. Our hassle-free KLIA Transit F1 Transfer Package takes fans on the KLIA Transit train from KL Sentral to KLIA. From there, dedicated coaches shuttle them right up to the Sepang race-track. All these in just 50 minutes, without the hassle of traffic, finding a good parking and the long wait to move out once the race is over. We are also extending our operational hours on the last day of the event to facilitate fans attending the closing concert in Sepang.”
These F1 Transfer Packages are priced at a promotional rate of RM120 per person for the Three-Day Package and RM80 for the Race-Day Package. The fare includes a two-way high speed train ride on KLIA Transit plying between KL Sentral and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and a two-way coach shuttle between KLIA and SIC.
For fans that need to commute from within the city center, this year the transfer package offers an additional free return trip on KL Monorail between KL Sentral and any monorail station.
