Express Rail Link Celebrates Its 30 Millionth Passenger
Kuala Lumpur, 16th June 2010: Express Rail Link (“ERL”), the operator of the high speed KLIA Ekspres & KLIA Transit, clocked another historic milestone when its “30 millionth passenger” walked through one of its ticket gates today, and was surprised with a celebratory party.
Passengers on the lucky 10.20am train that departed KLIA and arrived at KL Sentral at 10.48am were earlier notified that one of them would be the lucky “30 millionth passenger” who would walk away with surprises when the train arrived in Kuala Lumpur City Air Terminal (KL CAT).
Amidst the loud countdown by the guests, air horn blasts and confetti showers over the balloon arch, the lucky winner Mr Peter Chan from Singapore walked through the ticket gate and clinched the 30 millionth passenger “title”.
Mr Peter Chan was immediately ushered on stage and “crowned” as the historic 30 millionth passenger. His win included two return economy class tickets to Auckland, New Zealand by event partner Royal Brunei Airlines, a limited edition copy of Express Rail Link’s commemorative coffee table book and a complimentary multi-trip KLIA Ekspres Easy Card.
Ms Karen Low, the country manager of Royal Brunei Airlines, on presenting the flight tickets to the lucky winner said “We are very pleased to join in this celebration and to be associated with ERL. This ERL service provides and offers our passengers a seamless mode of travel, reducing travel time combined with convenient check-in procedures. It certainly gives Royal Brunei the edge for an added service enhancement to our customers.”
In her speech, Pn Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL, said “We are very happy to celebrate this significant moment. Last year was very challenging, with air travel, and consequently ERL’s ridership, adversely affected by several major worldwide issues. However, I am happy to report that we are seeing much better loads this year, and that has brought forward this event.”
The 30 Millionth Passenger event was part of ERL’s year-long 8th Anniversary Celebration.
