3rd February 2010 KL City Air Terminal, KL Sentral

In celebrating its 8th Anniversary, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) is giving away 888 free tickets to LCCT. The tickets on the new “KLIA Transit to LCCT” service are available for travel from the 6th to 28th February 2010. Some of the free tickets were given away in conjunction with ERL’s Chinese New Year “Balik Kampung Safely” awareness campaign event, launched by the Honourable Datuk Robert Lau, the Deputy Minister of Transport. Tickets not given out during the launch were also made available at ERL’s website www.KLIAekspres.com that same afternoon. Datuk Robert mentioned in his speech that the Ministry welcomed ERL’s campaign for the public to get into the habit of taking public transportation instead of driving to KLIA and LCCT when they “balik kampung” during festive holidays, as it was also in line with the Ministry’s efforts to encourage greater usage of public transportation. He also applauded ERL, the operator of KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services, for their emphasis on travel safety. In congratulating ERL on its 8th year anniversary, he said, “In ERL’s on-going green campaign, 3.5 million cars a year are removed from the roads as result of passengers travelling on the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit. I would translate that into 3.5 million less chances of having car accidents a year!”, thereby making the roads safer. ERL’s Chief Executive Officer, Puan Noormah Mohd Noor, said, “‘Balik Kampung Safely’ is an annual awareness event to remind our community on travelling safe. ERL is conscious of our passenger’s well-being in travelling back to their hometown, during the Chinese New Year and other festive holidays. We provide a safe, comfortable and fast travel experience on board our trains for passengers heading to KLIA and LCCT to fly back home.” Puan Noormah also added that ERL worked hard to ensure that the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services are not only on time, every time, but also deliver all passengers safely to their destinations. Datuk Robert graced the occasion by giving away the first 8 free tickets to lucky passengers who had queued up patiently, and later witnessed the train blessing ceremony onboard the KLIA Transit by the renowned Khuan Loke Dragon & Lion Dance Association which displayed skilful acrobatic dance moves.
