Kuala Lumpur – 15 May 2008:
100 lucky KLIA Ekspres passengers became proud owners of LG Shine mobile
phones, LG 42 inch Pearl Black LCD TVs, Emirates’ flights to London, Paris,
Venice and Jakarta, at the recently concluded Ride & Win contest jointly
organised by Express Rail Link (ERL), LG Electronics (LG) and Emirates
Airlines (EK).
Speaking at the joint prize presentation today, Dr Aminuddin Adnan, CEO ERL,
said, “When one looks at the profile of our passengers, with close to 70% of
our traffic being business travellers, we know it is no easy task to attract
such discerning passengers. Therefore, we were pleasantly surprised that the
3-month “Ride & Win” campaign generated almost 100,000 entries, or
approximately 20% of our KLIA Ekspres ridership for the period. This clearly
reflected the strong interest in the attractive prizes mentioned earlier. “
He added further, “We were also pleased that the number of first-time
travellers on the KLIA Ekspres also increased by five percentage points,
further proof that the campaign and the fabulous prizes enticed many new
travellers to come and try our service. Hopefully, they liked what they
experienced and they will continue to use our services for many years to
come.”
Speaking on plans to increase ridership, Dr Aminuddin said, “We are glad to
note that within the next few months, ERL is expected to be the first
Malaysian rail transporter to offer its products worldwide through the
travel industry’s Global Distribution System (or GDS, in short). By
signing-up with Amadeus GDS under their unique “Airport Express”
co-branding, KLIA Ekspres train tickets will be available at over 380,000
Amadeus’ point-of-sales worldwide. Other air-rail operators that will be
under the Amadeus “Airport Express” product include London’s Heathrow
Express and Stockholm’s Arlanda Express.”
A total of 91 LG Shine mobile phones were awarded to daily winners for the
entire duration of the contest. Names of these daily winners were posted on
the ERL’s website. The monthly grand prize winners of LG 42 inch Pearl Black
LCD TVs went to Ms Emmelia Md Nasir, En Ahmad Firdaus Tan Sri Datuk Abdul
Rahim Din and En Ahmad Faizal Sulaiman.
Lucky winners of Emirates flights to Jakarta were En Harman bin Salleh
Baihaki, Mr. Lim Jooi Leng and En. Noor Akmal bin Khazali; while the Grand
Prize winners to Europe were En Azlul Shuib Arslan, Ms Carly Shere S George
and Mr Kalaiselvam A/L Karuppiah.
