19 October 2006, Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia,
through ERL (Express Rail Link) will host the prestigious
International Air-Rail Organisation (IARO) regional meeting in Kuala
Lumpur next month.
Dr Aminuddin Adnan, CEO of ERL said," This is
the first time the meeting is being held outside Europe. The hosting of this
event is another of ERL's effort to further elevate the status of
Malaysia as an aviation hub. We believe the event is also timely to support
the forthcoming VMY2007."
Dr Aminuddin Adnan is among the two Asians sitting on
the Board of IARO. The other is Mr KY Leung of the MTR Corporation
Hong Kong.
The regional meeting will be held in the Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur
Convention Center on
13 November 2006.
The event is another boost to the aviation industry development in Malaysia
following the commencement of ERL's high-speed train between KLIA
(Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and the city center in April 2002.
Since then, the company has joined the league of elite airport express
operators in the world such as London's Heathrow Express, Stockholm's
Arlanda Express, Hong Kong's Airport Express, Oslo's Airport Express and
Milan's Malpensa Express etc providing seamless connectivity for air
travelers between airport and city center.
IARO spreads world-class best practices and good workable ideas among
its members. The coming regional meeting will see members sharing pertinent
information for the development of the air-rail industry. Malaysia Airlines,
Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad and several relevant government agencies
will also be participating in the November IARO meeting.
